What this document is

Brakkus is published free to read. These are the conditions on which it is made available, and reading the site means accepting them. If you would rather not, the site is easy to leave.

We have written it in ordinary language and kept it as short as the subject allows.

Conduct

Do not attempt to break into, overload, or interfere with the site or the infrastructure behind it, and do not use it in the commission of anything unlawful.

Well-behaved search crawlers are welcome. Crawlers that disregard our robots directives, or that impose load out of proportion to any legitimate purpose, are not, and may be blocked.

The nature of the content

Brakkus explains how parts of the music industry work. It is general editorial explanation and it is not advice.

This distinction carries real weight on this site, because a great deal of what we cover involves contracts, copyright, royalties and money. Nothing published here is legal, financial, tax or accounting advice, nothing here creates any professional relationship between us and you, and nothing here is a substitute for a lawyer, an accountant or a business manager who represents your interests specifically. Deal structures vary by territory, by counterparty and by negotiation, and an article describing how a kind of arrangement generally works cannot tell you what your own agreement says or ought to say. Before signing anything, take advice from someone who has read it.

Descriptions of technical and production practice are likewise general. They describe common approaches, not the correct approach for your project or your equipment.

No warranty

We correct errors when we find them or when they are reported, and we note corrections on the page. Beyond that we make no promises.

The site and everything on it is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it is complete, current or free from error, that arrangements and practices we describe have not since changed, or that the site will always be reachable.

Links to other sites are offered because they may be useful, not as an endorsement. We have no control over those sites, no responsibility for their content, and no involvement in how they treat your data. Once you follow a link, their terms govern.

Limitation of liability

So far as the law permits, the operator of Brakkus and its contributors accept no liability for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising out of the use of this site or reliance on its content — including lost profit or revenue, lost opportunity, lost data, or loss flowing from a commercial or contractual decision taken on the basis of something published here.

No part of these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Amendment

Content may be added, edited or withdrawn at any time, and these terms may be revised. The date at the top of this page records the current version, and continued use after a revision constitutes acceptance of it.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute connected with them or with the site, are governed by Hungarian law and subject to the jurisdiction of the Hungarian courts. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of any protection guaranteed to you by the mandatory law of your country of residence.
